Do Not Be Deceived
Paul is now starting his direct attack on the false teachings in Colossae. One of the elements of that teaching is the idea that Christ is not sufficient for salvation and that you need special, extra knowledge to achieve salvation and enlightenment. Paul has already started his rebuke in V3, "… Christ Himself, (3) in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge." Now Paul is warning against falling into deceptive teachings that require knowledge in addition to Christ.

Introduction to Colossians
The Apostle Paul wrote the letter to the church at Colossae to correct and rebuke heresies being taught there. Even though he did not found this church, he felt a responsibility to care for their doctrinal purity. The three heresies addressed in this letter are paganism, Greek philosophy and Jewish legalism.

The Glory of Trials and Tribulation
Our God is the same yesterday, today and forever. He is a consuming fire. It is a fearful thing to fall into His hands. From the fall in the Garden of Eden to the final battle at the end of the Millennium He has been saving the lost and refining the saved through trial and tribulation. It has been observed that the Bible, and history for that matter, is a series of trials and tribulations with God at work in middle of it all. In every dispensation of time those that belong to God are to count it all joy when they fall into tribulations. We can do this only because God is indeed there with us in the middle of, and in the promised glorious aftermath, of them all. However we don’t need to wait for a lifetime of experience to know this is true. We can be assured of it by seeing it displayed throughout His Word. Then we will prove it to be true as we experience it in our living here and hereafter.

State of Man, Part 1
Contemporary culture tells us that man is basically good and is improving all the time. Even segments of Christianity believe that man is basically good. How Faith Works
If someone asked you to find one verse in the New Testament that would sum up the Christian life, which one would you pick? Galatians 5:6 does quite nicely I think. Tucked nicely away in the last part of that verse is an important dynamic to the Christian life that we want to dig up and hold up to the light. We want to find out, 'How Christianity Works."
