Do You Believe In The Son?
What do you believe in? Where do you put your faith? The world offers false hope, nothing that really last. When it comes to the Word of God, there is no other hope that has an eternal lasting hope, for that hope is in Christ Jesus.

Giver of Divine Grace

James has detailed the human heart and its selfish actions in verses 1 through 5. He has identified our conflicts with each other, with the Church and with God because of our self-centered spirit. Now, he tells us of God’s provision for overcoming our sinful, selfish spirit.

Conflict With Scripture

James continues his presentation of the character of self-centered, selfish mankind. The truth of the condition of the human spirit, as laid out in Scripture, is rejected by man. Left to ourselves, we reject both Scripture and its description of our nature.

Be Thou My Vision

Someone once said that the whole purpose of man is to know God and to enjoy Him forever. We realize this is true we come to know God by repenting of our sin and He saves us. The joy and assurance of salvation, or “first love”, that we experience is more than just mental ascent to a system of beliefs. It is the enjoyment of Gods’ very presence in our deepest being. Often, though, we find ourselves knowing Him but not enjoying Him because of sin in our lives. May this prose remind us of the greatness of being a child of God and lead us back to our “first love”.

Enemies of God

James now turns from the conflict within ourselves and in the Church, to our conflict with God. If we try to do things according to our own wisdom and ideas, we reject God and become His enemy. There is a movement in the Church today to adopt the methods and standards of the world, but this puts us in opposition to God and His plan.

Selfish Requests

In contrast to the peace of heavenly wisdom, James’ audience is characterized by fights and divisions. In chapter 4, James identifies the causes of these problems and calls the Christians to end their participation in the fighting. In verses 2 and 3, James identifies the attitudes we have that cause division in the church.

The Character of Heavenly Wisdom

James has shown us the character and result of false wisdom. Now he will describe to us the characterof Godly wisdom and exhort us to seek after Godly wisdom. He tells us a true Christian will be characterized by Godly wisdom.

The Character of False Wisdom

James continues his discussion about the wisdom a Christian should have. He shows us that the wisdom of a false believer is worldly and selfish. As Christians, we should not be characterized by this type of wisdom.

A Solemn Charge- A New Beginning Pt 1

As we grow in our walk with God we are reminded often that, as someone once said, "The only constant in life is change." Someone also has said, "God loves us too much to leave us where we are." He wants us as individuals as well as a church to continue to move forward and to be blessed with maturity no matter what happens. He ends one thing only to begin a new one. We can see with hind sight that God is constantly preparing us for what lies ahead. The Apostle Paul, as a wise leader, knew this truth and when his ministry to the Ephesian church was nearing its end he prepared them with a reminder of his example in the past, and a solemn charge for the future. Then he left them to carry on the ministry. We have at MBC can learn from their example

He Is Risen!

Today is the day that Jesus Christ was raised from the grave by God the Father to show that He accepted the atoning sacrifice for our sins. This is the basis for the celebration today, not Easter bunnies, chocolate rabbits, nor colored eggs. Without the resurrection, out faith is useless. With the resurrection, we can be saved from eternal punishment and separation from God.

The Rejection and Death of Jesus Christ

This time of year, everyone is thinking about Easter and springtime. People are looking at the renewal of life and rededicating their lives. People take this opportunity to deprive themselves of things to show their devotion to their religion, yet they deny the Person of Christ. Palm Sunday is celebrated as a time of joy by the western world, but it really is a day of infamy.

Suppressing The Truth Pt 1

What happens when man suppresses God’s truth? When man does everything he can to hold down God’s truth?
When man attempts to restrain God’s truth?
In this message we will see the consequences that occur in society when man’s unrighteous deeds hinder and hide God’s truth! We will see that there is a progression of unrighteousness that takes place. Society goes through various stages and levels of sin, gradually getting worse and worse.
Lastly, what happens when an individual holds down God’s truth?

Jehovah’s Witnesses (Part I)
God has not left Himself without witness in the world, or in Heaven for that matter. Since sin entered the universe He has been declaring the injustice that it is to Him and His righteousness but has made a way to not only vindicate Him, but also to justly offer forgiveness to the guilty.
In His grace, mercy, and love God has continually proclaimed His existence to the world.
And He amply verifies His truth through the agreement of a myriad of witnesses. If we are wise we will listen to the testimony of these witnesses.

Jehovah’s Witnesses (The Message)(Part II)
When God broke His silence of nearly 400 years He began a period of transition; a transition that would phase
out the old covenant and establish the new one. It would span nearly one hundred years and leave in its wake the
presence of the Holy Spirit in the hearts of all true believers and the finished Word of God.
It began with the birth of John the Baptist and ended with the death of John the Apostle. This, the greatest of the works of God, has been a matter of historical record and is upheld by a host of witnesses both in Heaven and Earth. In all of it there is one simple message to mankind. That simple message is made clear at the very beginning of this wondrous work and it is the very same simple message that His witnesses of today bring to the world.

Our Justification and Righteousness, Part 1
Pastor Dave Harrold
2/4/07

There is an assault on the gospel. We have people say that we are all going to Heaven or that our works will get us to heaven. They, in effect, demand that God take them to heaven on their terms. But God gives us, in one short verse,
the entire gospel. There are several key Christian doctrines found in this one verse: justification by faith, imputed righteousness, God’s sovereignty and God’s justice.

2 Corinthians 5:21
21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
