Learn About Him / Learn Of Him
Mat 11:29-30; 28:18-20 (Part 2)
As a Bible Church we stress the intake and study of God’s Word as a primary thing. We know that all holy living and ministries start with and succeed only with a commitment to it. We all are exhorted to the business of mastering the
Word of God. As we do let us remember that the growing in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is not just accumulation of facts for the sake of having them. The goal is not learning about Him only but learning of Him eventually. Applying what we learn from the Word to ourselves, and then applying our lives to it, we learn from our experience what God is like. We prove what is that good and acceptable will of God and we gradually
become like Him. However our nature which is just like Satan’s is to focus on ourselves and not on God.
Aware of our progress we will be tempted to rejoice in it rather than in the One who makes it happen.
As we master the Word of God let us learn to be like the Master of the Word.
I. Jesus (The Word) came for two reasons:
a.) Salvation (The Gospel): John 12:47; 1Jon 2:2; 4:9, 10, 14.
Revelation (The Remainder): John 18:37; Mat 11:29, 30 Mat 7:24-27.
II. Growth: 2Pet 3:18; 1Pet 2:1, 2; James 1:19-25; 1Thes 2:13.
III. Inflated: 1Cor 8:1; 4:6b-7; 13:4; 1Tim 3:6; James 3:14-18; Mat 20:26-28;
23:12, 12.
IV. A bad example: 1Cor 1:10, 11; 3:3, 18; 5:1, 2; 6:5; 11:18.
Food For Thought: As you master the Word are you becoming like the Master of the Word?
