Suppressing The Truth - Pt 3
What happens when man suppresses God’s truth? When man does everything he can to hold down God’s truth?
When man attempts to restrain God’s truth? In this message we will see the consequences that occur in society
when man’s unrighteous deeds hinder and hide God’s truth! We will see that there is a progression of unrighteousness that takes place. Society goes through various stages and levels of sin, gradually getting worse and worse.
Lastly, what happens when an individual holds down God’s truth?

I Romans 1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness,

A. For the wrath of God. God’s anger that swells up against sin

B. Revealed from heaven. God’s anger comes from heaven above

C. Against all ungodliness Lack of reverence towards God, sinfulness

D. Against all unrighteousness Lack of righteous living, immoral conduct, injustice

E. Suppress the truth in unrighteousness. Hold down, restrain, hide & hinder God’s truth

1. What is God’s truth? God’s word the Bible is God’s truth! Ps 119:160
2. Man attempts to discredit/destroy God’s truth with a lie. 2 Tim 4:3-4, Jn 3:19.
> The Devil/Eve/cults change God’s Word. Gen 3:1-5, Gen 2:15-17, Rev 22:18.
> False belief systems and vain philosophies of man. Eph 5:6, Col 2:8, 2 Tim 2:16, I Tim6:20.

II The Consequences of Suppressing God’s Truth.

A. Refusing to glorify God. Ro 1:21.
B. Refusing to give God thanks. Ro 1:21.
C. Being futile. Ro 1:21
D. Being blinded from the truth. Ro 1:21
E. Turning into fools. Ro 1:22.
F. Changing the glory of God into images of creation. Ex 32:4, 8.
G. Becoming unclean & lustful. Ro 1:24.
H. Dishonoring one’s body. Ro 1:24.
I. Exchanging the truth for a lie. Ro 1:25.
J. Worshipping creation rather than the Creator. Ro 1:25.
K. Being filled with vile passions. Ro 1:26.
L. Exchanging the natural use of the body. Ro 1:26.
M. Men exchange the natural use of their bodies. Ro 1:27, Gen 19:1-7, Lk 17:22-30
N. Men don’t retain the knowledge of God. Ro 1:28.
O. Men develop a debased mind. Ro 1:28.
P. Sins of unrighteousness. Ro 1:29-32

III Societies That Suppress God’s Truth.

A. Communist countries. (Atheism)
B. Islamic countries. (Mid Eastern nations)
C. Western Liberal Progressive/Socialist countries (European countries)
D. Countries that promote false religions (India/Hinduism/Buddhism – Italy/Mexico = Catholicism)
E. American Society. (Becoming more liberal and socialistic, anti-Christian)

IV Suppressing God’s Truth As An Individual.

A. Denying the Bible is God’s truth. Creating one’s own standard of right and wrong.
B. Being selective in choosing what to obey and what not to obey (the Bible).
C. Buying into worldly philosophies (New Age, evolution, unbiblical psychology, etc.,)
D. Rejecting/refusing to believe and receive Jesus as Lord & Savior. I Jn 5:12, Jn 3:16.
